Position: Part-time Mandarin Teacher

Division: Middle School (Grades 5-8)

Responsibilities: Mandarin teachers are responsible for the development, implementation, and progression of The Hudson School's world language intensive immersion curriculum. A THS Mandarin teacher works with grades 5-8 in placement-based world language classes. 

A successful candidate will possess the following characteristics and experiences:

  • Ability to work with students in multi-aged groups
  • Belief that all students can achieve at the highest academic level
  • Recognize individual student learning needs and develop strategies to address those needs
  • Able to meet often to collaborate with colleagues to share best practices and ensure student progress
  • Native Mandarin speaker
  • 2-3 years teaching experience in an immersion language environment
  • Experience with students ages 10-14 required
  • Flexibility to work beyond curriculum to provide a well-rounded experience entirely in the target language

This position is for one middle school Mandarin class for the 2025-2026 school year. Classes are 40 minutes long and meet in the afternoon, either from 1:45-2:25 or 2:30-3:10 every day. This position pays $55 per class period taught.
